All right, so this is a huge trade that could get me around 50 keys of profit, but I don't know if I should take it or not.
Recently, I got my unusual after trading up to it, a Smoking Counterfeit Billycock. It's worth about 12 keys.
I was advertising the unusual for sale on a trade server and this guy trades me.
The trade window opens, but everything except the chat is frozen for me.
I see he puts up an unusual pirate's bandana, though I can't see it in the trade window, and starts typing "HURRY UP" in the chat.
I kinda started to freak out, and it didn't let me type in the chat window so I added him.
His unusual loads in, it's a searing plasma pirate's bandana. I put my hat in, but then he cancelled the trade because he wanted a scout unusual.
Then, an hour later, he trades me again saying he wants my unusual and we trade. He has trade holds though, so the items are held for 15 days. He says he has mobile authenticator, but it must have been a problem on his side because mine has been working ever since I got back into trading.
I did a little research, as the hat was unpriced. Pirate bandanas in vivid plasma go for 70, purple energy for 65, so I realized I could get 50 keys of potential profit from this trade.
It's been two days since the trade, but now I'm a little worried because of the value of the trade.
This guy clearing wasn't big on trading; it seemed that he unboxed it, seeing he was the only owner, and in his inventory history on backpack.tf it appeared with some other items that were 'found in crates'. I do want to do the trade because 50 keys would set me with pretty much anything I'd want to buy in this game. He seems to really want my hat, saying that it is awesome.
I played some TF2 with this person afterwards. He chose 100% crit mario kart servers. We didn't really interact that much...haven't said anything since the trade...
So, now I wonder...
What would the consequences be, if any, if I took this trade?
Would people see how I got the hat and think I sharked him?
What should you do when you are faced with a large amount of profit from someone who seems inexperienced in trading?
I've got 13 days left, should I let the trade go through?
