Much Ado about the Minimum Wage

Edit: from the perspective of Americans

I'm all for raising minimum wage, but there are so many factors and valid points that can be made on both sides

Before you comment, I wanna address some (alongside my personal opinions/counter arguments):

For:

Several people rely on two jobs, and even then barely make ends meet in their situation. Who can study if you're constantly working not to get thrown out?

Would increase employment rates - I'm skeptical about this, as there really isn't any proof to back it up, but I feel it has some truth

Most large corporations can spare to raise their wages (e.g. on average, a Papa John's manager makes ~$10.50, which is the minimum wage in D.C.)

Against:

Inflation: if we raise the minimum wage then the price of everything else will go up (nullification) - while this may be true, the federal minimum wage hasn't been raised for 6 years, taxes and other commodities have

"They should have gone to school" - many are in several instances, however some still have to pay for rent, tuition, kids/alimony, medical expenses and a whole host of theoreticals

I don't believe it should be raised to $15, but perhaps steadily increased to ~$10-11 within the next few years and go from there. Maybe then people could live decently off it
